Accelerated Concrete Carbonation and Resulting Rebar Corrosion Under a High Temperature Condition in Nuclear Power Plants

چکیده
To assess the durability of concrete structures at nuclear power plants in Japan, plant life management technical evaluation is performed accordance with guidelines Architectural Institute Japan for maintenance and facilities. Concrete carbonation one degradation factors covered guidelines, sampling to confirm progression predict future progression. Electricity providers perform locations constituting environments (temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide concentration) where progresses relatively fast that has not reached rebars In this study, accelerated tests were high temperature, which believed accelerate carbonation, considering parameters humidity. Progression its impact on rebar corrosion examined. The results showed high-temperature can be predicted a margin safety using Japan’s prediction equation. Moreover, because humidity temperature do correspond each other, are typically unlikely corrode even if rebars, provided they subjected extreme wet-dry cycles.

Boric Acid Corrosion of Concrete Rebar
Borated water leakage through spent fuel pools (SFPs) at pressurized water reactors is a concern because it could cause corrosion of reinforcement steel in the concrete structure and compromise the integrity of the structure. Because corrosion rate of carbon steel in concrete in the presence of boric acid is lacking in published literature and available data are equivocal on the effect of boric...

A large number of reinforced concrete structures subjected to chloride ions. Two basicapproaches for preventing corrosion of reinforcing steel embedded in concrete are: Increasing theconsolidation of concrete and using different coating on rebars. In present research steel rebarsare coated in different ways: a) 40 µm of zinc electroplated on steel rebar b) Zinc powder withepoxy paste (zinc rich...

Several technologies are being developed to convert coal into clean fuel for use in power generation. From the standpoint of component materials in these technologies, the environments created by coal conversion and their interactions with materials are of interest. Coal is a complex and relatively dirty fuel that contains varying amounts of sulfur and a substantial fraction of noncombustible m...
متن کاملMetal And Concrete Inputs For Several Nuclear Power Plants
In nuclear energy systems, the major construction inputs are steel and concrete, which comprise over 95% of the material energy inputs. The evaluation of construction material inputs is central to life-cycle assessments for environmental impacts for nuclear and other non-fossil energy systems, and can provide a useful, if only qualitative, plausibility check for economics claims. This paper com...
متن کاملEffect of Climate Change on Service Life of High Volume Fly Ash Concrete Subjected to Carbonation—A Korean Case Study
The increase in CO2 concentrations and global warming will increase the carbonation depth of concrete. Furthermore, temperature rise will increase the rate of corrosion of steel rebar after carbonation. On the other hand, compared with normal concrete, high volume fly ash (HVFA) concrete is more vulnerable to carbonation-induced corrosion. Carbonation durability design with climate change is cr...
